Soniccouture – Array Mbira 1.5.0 (KONTAKT)

The Mbira is a folk instrument native to Africa. Sometimes called the Thumb, Sanza, or Kalimba piano, it is usually home-made and consists of metal tines attached to a piece of wood that are strummed with the thumbs. They are generally small, with a few notes.

Array Instruments, founded by Bill Wesley and Patrick Hadley, have taken the concept of this ancient African idiophone to a whole new level, not only in terms of instrument design, but also in the purity of sound and pitch range.

The Array Mbira is not a toy, it is a high-tech musical instrument built to exacting specifications.

The Mix page allows you to control individual levels of the microphone and pickup channels, as well as the Strummer module, where you can play the Mbira using the modulation wheel or controller of your choice.
